Informational Text Vocabulary

1.   Persuasive text – written to influence the reader’s beliefs or ideas.
2.   Expository text – provides facts and information on a topic or event.
3.   Procedural text – step-by-step instructions to complete a task.
4.   Structural patterns – organization of information.
5.   Chronological order – uses a timeline to organize information.
6.   Cause and effect – tells why something happened or happens.
7.   Problem and solution – presents a problem and how to solve it.

8.   Compare and contrast – tells how two or more things are alike and different.
