Making Connections to Literature Vocabulary

1. interpretation - forming connections and meaning to text

2. perspective - a way of viewing things based on personality and/or experience

3. perception - a way of thinking about or understanding text

4. motivation - the reason a character thinks, acts, and feels a certain way

5. internal response - a personal and/or emotional connection with conflict (this can also refer to a reader's internal response)

6. external response - communication of a response to others (this can also refer to a reader's external response)

7. literature - writings in connection with public interest

8. author's purpose - the reason a person writes (i.e. persuade, inform, entertain, compare, express)
